What a day, so weird! Woke up this morning with a plan to show Bets an apt I have been looking at and was thinking about moving into. Well we wake up to pouring rain, solid, hard, intense, pouring rain. We make it to the apt to find out it’s been taken. The broker brings us to a few other apts on the block but nothing was really doing it for me. She double checks my budget and asks if we want to check out a building on 14th between 2nd/3rd. Knowing my budget I immediately think an apt in that are would be ridiculously tiny and unlivable, but after making the decision to skip class to hang out with Bets, we decide why not.
Now I dont know if you know NY but this is a block away from Union Square, which is on 14th street, same as the L train, which connects Williamsburg Brooklyn to the city and runs through Union Square, which is where you can catch the NQRW to get up and down Manhattan which takes you pretty much anywhere you’d ever go. Needless to say, Union Square, since the day I moved to NY, was adopted as my kind of home base, my quote unquote center of NYC. This has always been the place I wanted to live but was WAY out of my price range so I had never even considered it.
Anyway, we come to discover an apt that is about 850 sqft, with a full bathroom and full kitchen for the same as what I pay for my loft in Bushwick. On top of that there is the 3rd Ave L train stop about 30 ft from my front door. The apt is ONE BLOCK from Union Square, 3 stops from Williamsburg, a five minute walk to the LES, two stops to SOHO, two stops to Penn Station when I need to grab Bets, and about two stops from the garment district!!!! OHHH and there is a puppy park in Union…. ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME THIS PLACE REALLY EXISTS AND IM GONNA BE MOVING THERE???? HOLLY SHIT!!!!
Ya, so it was a good day today, found a new home, got some amazing sushi with Bets at our favorite sushi place, HIRO (4 blocks from my new home thank you very much, oh and they deliver in the city i CANT get over this), went to see the movie Earth, and came home and cuddled with the pup and tried to finish season 2 disk 2 of lost…
Tomorrow is looking good too, gonna do some cleaning, get some more stuff sold, start packing, and go see either Year One, Skate Dreams, or The Hangover again.
